When you visit Parkers’ Karat Patch Jewelers, one of our professional team members will be happy to explain the exact process your ring will go through to be sized. Your ring will be examined to make sure the sizing process will not compromise the integrity of your ring. Since each ring is tailor fit just for you, we will size your finger and guide you through choosing the best fit for you. There are many factors to consider when sizing a ring; for instance wider bands can feel very different than thinner bands. We will help you determine the best size for each ring. We provide you with options and pricing based on your specific needs. Multiple photographs of your piece will be taken and you will be provided with a detailed receipt containing a description of your ring and the work to be performed.
All rings have sizing limitations depending on the design. For example, designs with plain bands, are more straightforward and simple, whereas ornate designs, and rings with patterns or stones that are set in the band, are more difficult and some have restrictions.
Ring Sizing is achieved by either adding or removing metal to obtain the desired size. When sizing up or down, the shank will be manipulated to achieve the correct size. If the ring contains gemstones at the top and on the sides, they can become loose. We always examine all aspects of the ring, including the gemstones, to make sure they remain secure and tight.
After the sizing is complete, we thoroughly clean the ring to remove any oxidation caused during the soldering process and polish the ring inside and out to make your ring look like new again. Rhodium finish is added to most white gold rings to make them bright white.
